About the event

Help bring our hillside to life by joining a hands-on mushroom log workshop led by Alabama Waldorf School parent Trevor Mann of Walden Farms and Edible Ecosystems. Participants will tour the hillside permaculture project, learn about the craft and biology of mushroom cultivation, and inoculate sustainably harvested logs with oyster and shiitake mushrooms. This family-friendly event is open to the public and recommended for first graders and older with adult supervision. Hot wax and hand tools will be used.

Advanced registration is required. Make a mushroom log and leave it to live on our reimagined hillside. Or bring one home! A minimum $50 donation reserves one take-home log for perennial mushroom harvesting—only 15 available! Come experience the magic of our Living Classroom in action.
